Hello
New to this forum and volvos. Got a very decent 2003 s40 1.9T for my daughter. Got it at a very good price and the reason is because it doesn't run. What happened "told to me by the owner" was that is had been running fine until he had it washed at a car wash. This car wash moved the vehicle through the facility. When it got to the other end, it wouldn't start. It turns over, tries to start but just wont catch and run. Tried holding the accelerator to the floor. Battery fully charged.
I would like to check the PEM connection as I heard about the recall for relocating this module.
So if I can get the location for the PEM it would help in my trouble shooting. Once I check that then I'll move on if needed in which case I will be back on this forum asking more question.
Thank you for the help.
2003 s40 location of fuel pump control unit
Sounds to me like the fuel pressure regulator. It mounts on to the fuel injection rail and it has a small clear plastic hose running from it to the intake manifold and if it is bad you will be able to see it dumping the gas through this hose directly below its location. My car had same symptoms and this is what cured it . Good luck!

That car has no PEM.
The fuel pump is operated by a relay in the box under hood. It is the same relay that switches on power supply to injectors, MAF sensor, etc., etc.
The relay should energize for about 2 sec when key is turned on and then once cranking commences and stay on while engine is running.

Thank you for the resposes. Very helpful.
I took the FPR out and inspected and tried to put some vacuum to it. No leak in the FPR but it didn't seem to operate. Put it back on the car and I actually got the car to start but it wouldn't take any gas pedal and idles very rough. Probably went super lean when I tried to give it the gas.
Will reserach getting a FPR locally.
