You can stop it whenever you want.

Why are people not hooking up directly to the posts on the battery? I did it all last winter to keep a dying battery going with no problems; no disconnecting required, simply pop the hood attach the alligator clips to each post and let it sit over night.

Thanks! I kept the battery cables on because I'm rushing around getting ready for something. No time to take cables off. Appreciate the response!! If I wasn't running around like a chicken w/head cut off, I'd pull the cables off or battery out.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I didn't take the cables off the battery either. I simply opened the hood and attached the alligator clips to the battery, battery cables in place and all. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it sounds like other people are getting pretty involved.

Doesn't matter where you connect, sorry. I was having a pompous jerk post moment.

Make sure you wiggle those teeth on the roach clips.....I mean alligator clips......so you get contact.

I hard wire my battery tenders with circular lugs bolted to battery to avoid issues with connects

It's working fine. Battery was below 80%, now it's a 100%, agree w/the alligator clips.
