2010 XC60T6 Can't shut off engine
My wife just called and said she can't turn off the engine. It is in P with the brake set and when she pushes the start/stop button, the display says the car is not in park. Anyone had this issue? Is there a gear shift selector switch that could be out of adjustment? Please let me know where to start on this?
Thanks,
Mike

The gear position sensor is on top of the gearbox and integrates the TCM.
If she pushes and holds the start/stop button it will go off.
IT also should go off if she first places in in N position.

So does the gear sensor require adjustment or do these go bad? We only have about 55K on the car and it happened suddenly. She also noted that the back up camera did not come on when she was in R and on the dash, the gear indicator would say P or R corresponding to the gear she was in. The car also goes into reverse or mark as it should.
Thanks,

It was displayed correctly on the cluster and next to the gear selector. I read about a tsb where the car wouldn't start because it wouldn't sense being in park or neutral but nothing about not shutting off.
