Well as I'm in a RHD country that would be under the driver's seat for the fuel pump in LHD USA

When I say under the seat I mean externally and under the car so apologies for the ambiguity.
If I'm not mistaken the 1994 has the same setup as earlier 960s. In 1995 they changed to to one single in-tank pump.

Ok my ambiguity is showing again.... I meant both fuel filter and fuel pump are under that cage. Of course there is also an in tank pump however its role is mainly for fuel levels beneath a quarter tank.
There should be a shraeder valve test point near the pump and filter as well as one on the end of the fuel rail where the injectors reside.

Today I changed the fuel filter, however I didn't see any fuel pump in that area.
I see a scraeder valve tank side of the filter.
Anyway prior to filter using an old and basic tyre pressure gauge (pen style) I tested fuel rail pressure at around 15 psi, fuel squirting everywhere. After filter changed pressure using same method is 25psi.
Maybe quite inaccurate testing method but I don't have access to proper gauge.
On starting fired immediately and sounded better( maybe imaginitis) went for a quick drive short distance and idle sounded better no miss, exhaust smelled different.
All I can do at this point till I can get hold tester.
Will have to see how all is before I start ripping anything else apart.
Have no idea how old filter was but a menace to undo.

Yeah it must be the '94 model year when it was changed to one pump. I had a '93 model and replaced the pump myself.lummert wrote:If you didn't find a pump next to the filter that means it's in the tank.

I got hold of a pressure tester yesterday.
When I tested the pressure with key on was 40psi, when I turned on the ignition I observed the pressured was unchanged.
So i figure maybe the fuel pump is OK, so plan B.
Maybe need to test coils and test oxygen sensor as to why poor fuel economy.
I still hear an occasional miss, is this possible to be a coil pack and how can I test for that?
Cheers
