Hello everyone, love the site.
I have a 98 v70 FWD base,135000miles,with a sagging rear end and I need some advice. According to the internet the stock height from fender to centre or rear wheel is 381mm, I am currently sitting at 349mm. I would like to raise mine to around 400mm by replacing the shocks and springs. All the info I have found is for lowering not raising
I use the car for work, carpentry, and often have heavy loads in the back. I'm not too concerned about handling at high speeds. I just want a smooth to stiff ride.
Any spring/ shock combo advice would be welcome.
Thanks
Danpaco

If you can scare up a set of Nivomat shocks and their matched springs and upper mounts off of an XC model it will help tremendously. The Nivomat shocks tend to last a good long time unless the boot is torn or they are actually leaking. The Nivomats are "self leveling" and make up for heavier loads as you drive.
Other than that route, just changing the original shocks should help. At 135k the original shocks are pretty much shot. Although it was tough to accurately measure I wound up with a bit over 1/2" of lift when I changed out some worn out OEM shocks with Bilstein Touring Class shocks on the rear.

IPD sells some "overload springs" that will raise the rear just a bit, provide better load tolerance, *and* improve handling. They are great on a wagon. I have used them with Bilstein Touring and with OEM Sachs shocks, both were good.

Thanks erikv11, that was the combo I was considering. Are those overload springs also called HD springs?
Can be a little confusing.
My problem now, I found some auto part suppliers in Europe that have every spring imaginable. Need to stop looking.

Here's cheap way to raise the car by about a inch.
Buy two of this, from FCP or take them off junkyard cars.

Press the center bolt out of all 4 spacers and break the little tab off. Buy 2 longer bolts and nuts.
