2000 S40 inner tie rod removal and replacement
Anybody remove inner tie rods on a 2000 s40? I have been told by two shops that their computer programs are telling them that the rack and pinion need to be removed in order to remove inner tie rods. Is this correct? I know I can do it if I have the inner tie rod tool to remove them but I don't want to do this if I have to remove the rack and pinion. Any info on this job anyone can give me would be great! Very frustrated at this point. Outer tie rod ends seem to be fused on. Couldn't get the retaining nut loose at all. At this point they are going to have to be cut off.

For the outer tie rod nut, I put an adjustable wrench on the nut and a wrench on the outer tie rod near the bolt, so the two wrenches sit like a scissor. then forced a cheating bar in between the two while keeping both wrenches together with one hand, so as to 'open' the scissor
