1997 850 AWD Heater motor not working, but fuses OK

Post by Caffeind »

The other night I went to take my car somewhere and discovered that I couldn't defog the windows. After playing with the ECC settings I've found that I can't get the fan to work at any speeds. I can still hear the vents adjusting when I switch the defrost/face/feet dial and there is still heat which can kinda sorta defog the windows if I'm driving fast enough to force air through the system. From reading previous posts it seems that it's the blower motor or resistor that fails but I've had no warning of anything (no squealing sounds) and the fuses which I've heard will blow when this happens (numbers 5 and 31) seem to be fine. I have noticed the AC and REC lights flashing when starting the car since.

Given that the fuses are fine, is the problem still likely a failed blower motor or can you think of anything else?

Thanks for the help!
