2001 V70 Unable to lock or unlock with key

My son drives a 2001 V70. Right now you can not use the key to lock or unlock it which means it isn't secure to go places like his school. You cannot use the switch on the inside either but even if you could lock it, there would be no way to get back into the vehicle. A local repair facility thought it was the Master Power Window Switch part number 9452959. I have replaced that but while the windows go up and down, the locks are still unable to lock or unlock.

I've never seen a vehicle that when you put the key in the lock it will not manually lock or unlock the door. What else should I be looking at to solve it?

Sounds like a low battery
Unless the battery is good (perfect), these cars do not like it and will do very weird things

Does the key turn into the lock at all?

The key turns left to right without any problem. I'm assuming the battery is fine given he's had no other problems starting etc. I'll take the battery to Auto Zone to get it tested today.

Forgot to mention, the lock button does not lock or unlock the doors either.

When you lock/unlock with key a signal is sent to a door module then the module responds by activating a lock actuator. It sounds like a door module either has no power, or is defective or locked. Some troubleahooting required and wiring diagram needed. Try disconnecting the batt for a few mins then reconnect for a hard reset.

Discovered today that the sunroof will not open either. So it sounds like whatever controls both unlock/lock switches on the doors and the sunroof control is tied together.
