Any 850 Can headlight reflectors be removed from the box?

Post by JimBee »

I have a nearly perfect reflector pulled from an 850 but the upper corner screw was rusted and it broke out the mount lug from the box in that corner. Too bad. I bought it anyway for a pittance.

I also have an intact complete headlight assembly with a bad reflector. I'd like to swap them and have a good replacement.

I've looked at the assembly and it's not obvious how it comes apart. Does anybody know?

Once you get the lens off there are two adjusters that must be disconnected to remove lens from box.

Closeups are kind of hard to decipher. Mine seems to look a little different than the one in your picture.

Are you saying, you just turn the adjusters until they completely unscrew from the strut they're threaded into?

Or is the plastic nut removable? I put a socket on the nut and it seems frozen on.

Here are some more pictures. The tricky part is disconnecting the ball mount. I reached thru the back of the housing with a screwdriver and separated the ball from socket.

Ahh, new pics are helpful. I took another look with that info and have a pretty good idea of how to tackle it. A project for a snow day.
