84 240 No instrument lights.

My instrument lights and gear selector light are not working and there is no power to them when the headlight are on. My climate control lights however, are working. I tested the bulbs and they're all good. Ive read the dimmer switch can be faulty and cause this but if that was the case then my climate control lights wouldn't work either, right? Has anyone else ran into this?

Sure, I got a little led light for seeing speedometer at night.

Otherwise, pull cluster unit out of dash, and trace the circuit down...

Is your instrument cluster fuse OK? Should be #7.

Go to the back of the dimmer switch and jump the 2 wires together. This should put the lights on full bright all the time with lights on. Wrap 'em up with tape and you're good....

I'm going to discount the gear selector light as those blow and get broken wires. The climate controls lighting dimming with the dimmer control would indicate the dimmer potentiometer is OK.
The wiring to 240 clusters is mostly single wires plugged onto male terminals. Pull the under dash sound panel and look up in there to see if you can spot a loose wire.
