Are Lpt heads the same as Hpt in 1998?

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Post by Ben850 »

I know the LPT block was 2.4L while HPT was 2.3L allowing thicker cylinder walls.
I had heard the heads and valves are the same with the sodium core exhaust valves I believe?

My reason for thinking about it is the fact that I plan on doing maintenance on the '98 XC I had recently picked up. PCV, etc...

While I have the engine half apart, I have some very nice upgrade parts to bolt right on.
I have gathered, (horded) 3" throttle body from N/A and manifold with 960 throttle plate. The same modification I had done to the Wagon.
Recent junkyard find on a '98 T5, ECU 607 and 16T turbo with no slack at all.

I will check compression and integrity of the engine. It is not young at 210k, but If I blow it up..? It was meant to be.
I can fix it." My dad is a TV repair man, he has the ultimate set of tools." -Spicolli.
The 1998 T5 ECU.
The 1998 T5 ECU.
16t from the same T5. I am not sure what I want to do with it yet.

I also have an R exhaust manifold itching to do something.
There is time to contemplate over the winter.
No Play at all in the turbo shaft!

Said funny things (to me I guess) and had to delete.
Apologies.

I do remember reading that one. It answers a few things, but not the original head question.

I remember seeing it mentioned somewhere, I simply don't remember where. I didn't think I would find myself needing that information.
I try to pay more attention these days. Needing to know immediately or not.
