Hy guys!

I'm comming from 850,s,v,c,xc70 forum because of only one question.

I'm considering to buy 2001 v70 2.0t,180hp manual.Car is in perfect condition, but a selesman told my on the phone that the car have a timing chain instead of timing belt.

I'm pretty sure that there is a timing belt and timing chains were introduced in 3rd gen of v70 and on diesels.

Thoughts?

The only (Mostly) Volvo engine to have chain recently has been the Yamaha V8 and the 3.2/3.0T 6 cylinders. There may be some Ford 4 cylinders in Europe and Asia with chains. The Volvo "white" engine are all belt cam drive.
