Yea...we love our crazy terms for stuff over here...I have a very good friend from Michigan and we often argue about hoods and bonnets on cars....wings and fenders....the list in endless. OK -basically I removed the inner door panel (the bit that the inside pull handle is attached to on the inside of the car)....there is a very delicate looking mechanism that clips into place behind the pull handle with a cable that wouldn't look out of place on a bicycle braking system (this is from memory...I was tired from rebuilding the front suspension and it was very late!). For me it was the only thing that had changed as I knew the lights were off before I opened the car so I took a chance. My thinking was that somehow the position of the pull handle cable is important as I think it's normally under tension....I put the pull cable back in place (just a piece of plastic that snaps into place...in my case the plastic had broken....it stayed in position but didn't look like it would last very long...so I made a bracket to hold it in position...at the time I remember thinking that the electronics were buried in the door lock but thats just a guess as I didn't investigate once it was fixed so it could be possible that the position of the cable in the lock mechanism is important. There weren't any electronics around the back of that door handle that I remember so maybe it's the cables position in the door lock that it is sensing (guessing)

OH! So you talking about the inside handle you pull to unlatch the door so you can get out of the car? I was thinking the plastic handle you pull after you get in the car and want to shut the door.

My buddy in west midlands built a Dodge Daytona clone, which has a BIG "wing" on the back. I was the one who accumulated all the pieces and sent to him. So, he has learned that a wing is a wing to me and a wing is NOT a fender!

That's right.
Wings are wings and will always be :D
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
