1998 oil leaking near radiator

Post by shiloh51933 »

I got oil leak up by radiator area, oil on lines going to intercooler. I need name of oil lines in area or any other thing that might leak oil in area and where I can get parts. I looked on FCP/ipd but couldn't find anything.

There are two oil lines P/N 3528207 and 3528201 that go from radiator to the engine below the A/C compressor into the engine block. I just changed these lines on the 98 V70 Turbo because they were leaking. Do you have a PCV issue?

They are called oil cooler lines and they are real expensive. A much cheaper alternative is to replace the flexible parts of the lines and there is a guy over on VolvoSpeed that sells kits to make it easy.

Ok so Volvo calls them oil cooler lines, I had issues finding the parts on FCP /IPD. I'll check VS for the kits and thanks for info.

If that doesn't work then I can give you an email address for him, I have bought several cooler lines from him. PM me if you want that.

I also used his lines on my '95 854T. No problems in about 4 years and 40K miles.
Can't remember if I purchased kit # 2 or # 3.
Regardless, it was a perfect fit (though it is a PITA job) and VERY reasonably priced in my opinion.

Volvo sells these oil cooler lines for about $100/each x2 = $200 or more.

The other way around this is to use generic oil hose, use a dremel tool to cut off the metal crimp.
Re-use the "barb fitting", install generic oil hose, then use new clamps: either Oetiker or regular clamps.
Put 2 clamps on each fitting.

I forgot to mention that you need to wipe it clean first, then monitor the leak.
If the leak is from the O-rings, then get the O-rings from dealer (no aftermarket O-rings).

Very often it leaks from the O-rings first. Then later on, it leaks from the crimped area of the hose.
