Need your help Guys!! Looking at a new car!

Post by mal81394 »

So, I want to buy an s60 and I have been looking and this one came up. My hangup is this car is a 2001 which seem to have transmission problems. But, this car looks like it was very well taken care of and for most of its life it was taken to the Volvo dealer for service. It has also had synthetic oil its whole life and the transmission fluid is clean. I think I can get the price lower, just wanted to get some opinions on whether to buy or not. My opinion is it is a good car and I think if the tranny fluid is flushed often it seems these transmissions are good. Am I wrong in saying that? Opinions please, thanks!

You need to count for valve body fix/replacement. And for the rest of worn parts, like for suspension and bushings.

But the transmission doesn't have any current issues. So, don't fix it if it is not broke right?

Then it was already fixed. Still keep in mind you're buying 14 years old car.

I realize that, I am upgrading from a 96 850 and it really just needs to last me about 4-5 years and probably 40,000 miles or so.

What is wrong with 96 850?

I decided to sell it while it was worth something. Actually I was just testing the market and it ended up selling. It has 243,000 miles and I am going to be starting to drive alot so I figured I needed to upgrade.

Look at least for 2003+. You still need to spend some $$ on fighting with previous owner's negligence.

I was looking for a 2003 + but can't seem to come up with one that has been taken care of like this one seems to have been although I have not gone to look at it yet.

Buy one from Jim. My 2005 still looks like and drives like new.
