2000 S70 T5M jingling noise when car is running

Post by Alabamabricklover »

Hey all, I recently purchased a T5M. After a few days, I have noticed a jingling(think keys or chain rattle) sound under the hood. The car does this all the time. Other than that, the car performs as it should. Does anyone have a clue into what this may be?

I've searched through here and haven't found anything so, forgive me if this has been covered.

All ideas are truly appreciated.

I know this is vague. I will try to post a video later so people can hear the noise.

Does it do it all the time? As you have a manual trans, does it continue when you depress the clutch even at rest?

If it stops or sound changes when clutch depressed it could be the release bearing in the clutch failing.

It's time to get out the car coloured piece if garden hose and isolate the noise

Check pulleys and accessories on the serpentine belt first.

Or even remove the serpentine belt to see if any of the items are at fault. Sometimes I find it hard to isolate noises of items on that belt as they are all mounted to an aluminum frame which transmits the noise to all components. Although, for this noise the old pipe stethoscope should be good!
