2000 s70 t5 Compatable engines

Post by clifford06 »

Greetings. As I searched on line at local PNP, I came across a 2001 s60 with the "53" in the vin. Will this work ? If not are there any other "vin code" numbers that would match mine. ?
Also , is there any big difference in the C70 "53" vin engines compared to S70 ? I found one online, 10 minutes from my job.
Finally, any "salvage yard" test that any of you use to check engines due to not being able to start up donar engine? I ask because this would be my first attempt at a PNP type engine . Thoughts and opinions respected.

Greetings. Well, the first part of my post , please ignore. Just read a past post with Ozark, Precopster, 1992chris2010. I think I'll just stick with my "53 vin code " generation. But please give thoughts on the rest of my post.

I can't comment on its suitability for your car, but it's definitely not "the same" engine. Yours is a 2.3; this is a 2.4. This is probably off one of the low-pressure turbo engines.

Wish I could give you more details, but a guy I know in Canada has installed a 2007 T5 motor in his 98 V70 AWD! Not sure how he got the ECU's to line up, but he is still using the 4 speed auto and has just to re-install the prop-shaft to get the AWD back up and running. So, if that gives you inspiration as to what can be done then I wish you the best of luck! 98 has simpler electronics, so perhaps it is easier to align different engines and older cars <98.

Greetings. Thanks for the response j-dawgs. Local company with good rep , but seem to lean more to Japanese engine. I'll give them a call to get "details." I'll check Saturday about that s70 at local yard . Do you have any good Jyards in your area ?

Thanks scot850 for response. Your friend is more daring than me. If he gets that going please update. Most 2.3's around are "highway mileage" high or no starters.

No idea, man. I just moved here, but I've only seen one 850 in the last week, so I'd guess the yards aren't packed with useful cars.

Where in Texas are you? There are probably decent yards out near Dallas or Austin, but there's not even a dealership near Waco.

Greetings. Spoke to the seller in add today. Said they get engines from Japan by the container boxes. Was honest to say they deal mostly Japanese engines. Euro engines are sprinkled in. His opinion was that I could use my turbo with this engine and it should work.
J-dawg I'm in Dallas. Yards here are 50/50. Good body, decent interior parts. Heads are first to go. But timing is everything .

Greetings. Going to check on engine tomorrow. 2001 C70 . Seller says its 2.3.Car is hardtop. Will this fit my T5 2000 ? If so, it will save me a 4hr, 400 mile turn around trip . Thoughts and opinions respected.
