1999 V70na Does Raxles still rebuild Volvo axles?

While doing the front brakes, I discovered a tear in the CV boot of the reman axle that was installed out of necessity last year.

I made them give me back my core, and thought I would send it in to RAxles for a rebuild. When I spoke with Marty today, he said he was no longer in the business of doing Volvo axles--parts prices had skyrocketed as has shipping, and Volvo has multiple variants now, something that was not true when he was doing the 850s and older cars.

Has anyone else had a conversation with him recently that can confirm I did understand what I heard?

Suggestions welcome as well--I'm pretty certain that what was installed will be one of the Chinese variants, and I hate to go to the trouble to stick a boot on it if it is likely to fail...

I did track down the GKN CV rebuild kit 302148 that has been discussed by (especially) cn90 on UK eBay:

--it would cost (shipped) a little under $150--so I guess I could rebuild my own????

I sure hope he hasn't quit on Volvo altogether, I need to get an axle for my Platinum. I do recall that he has always had issues with some of the axles after '98.

I need a new axle for my S80 T6 and when I asked Marty said he doesn't supply those. So perhaps it's true. Little in between Chinese and Raxles it seems so I'm going to bite the bullit and get a Blue box one ($600 or thereabouts).

I thought the axle in my V70 1999 non turbo was the same axle as the 850 series (it is the smaller of the two that Cn90 identified in one of his threads). That seems to be true for the fitment chart that the eBay seller of the GKN kit.

Lee, if you check and he will still do the 850s, let me know and I will ask him again.

1983-1998 S70: axle is with conventional 36-mm large nut.

1999+ models: axle has a bolt at the end, so it is different.

Re OEM GKN CV Joint, you can get them on ebay UK website. Example: If you enter "S70 GKN CV", you will get these results:

I used Colorado Driveshafts for reman Volvo axles once Marty ran out of cores and I didn't have an OEM core to send him -- probably about 1.5 yrs. ago now.

Erie VoVo got me a 1999 axle when I butchered mine during a FWB job earlier this year
