so my guess is not to use a naturally aspirated long block for the swap, correct?
to be plug-n-play i basically use any turbo long blocks(2.3 or 2.4) from an 850, or 98 or older s70/v70/c70?
what is the difference in the long blocks from 99 and above s70/v70/c70?

NA engine is not plug and play, but I have read of some people using them. Mainly the exhaust valves are not sodium filled, otherwise similar to the LPT engines already discussed.
99 and above the engine block is the same but the intake cams are VVT and your ECU is not set up for that, they can work but not plug and play (you have to get rid of VVT). Those cars have coil packs so you have to drill the rear of the intake cam for the distributor. Plus a few other differences like the way the accessories mount (alternator etc), the water pipe on the back of the engine and I think the engine mounts. Probably some other little things.

^thats more work than I want to get involved with.
I think I may have found my 2 best options for a plug-n-play swap into the 1998 S70 T5.
1) B5254T
2) B5234T/B5234FT
In that order. Running the 2.4 that has a slightly larger displacement and slightly higher compression ratio should net me a better lower end, better powerband, and an overall better performing engine when utilizing the T5 turbo, ECU, manifolds, etc. etc. etc.

so I found 2 engines, both B5244T3's. They are about the same price and have the same results from the compression tests. One is from a 2001, the other is 2002. Is the 2002 better than the 2001? I thought I read something somewhere in one of the RN threads that the 02's use stronger and lighter internals. can anyone be kind enough to give me some input on these 2 engines? Thanks

After1998, an engine swap, becomes more interesting. ECU are married to the car so you need to have a software fix at dealer to get that working with a different engine

There are a couple of good Volvo independent shops in CO that can help source a replacement engine. I visited one with Matt a couple years back in Denver

Find a better condition turbo car, swap the m56 in there instead.Chadwicks70 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2018, 22:13 Have a 2000 S70, .what engines that are turbo charged would bolt up and fit in easy? Mine is a base S70 m56 grarbox
