2001 S60 At times a flapping noise emits from engine

At times I have a flapping noise emitting from left center engine area of my 2001 S60 T5. 367,000 miles on engine and clutch. Thought maybe the clutch but noise frequency or speed doesn't change with RPM or clutch engagement. As quickly as it starts it's gone. Drives fine always at idle never when operating on road. Thought maybe oil separator but not sure. I'm continuing to drive with no issues seems fine other than noise. No codes thrown and did get a message indicating fuel cap not on which quickly went away even though cap was tight. I'm baffled.
