2007 S60R New Filter, Code 42?

So I installed a new air filter. I had to take the stock box and cover out in order to fit the new filter. The filter is oiled, brand new. After two days of driving, the "Engine Service Required" and Check Engine light both appear. Doing the old "hold down the mileage" button, code 42 appears. Some others with the same car have said this code is invalid, and not a code at all.

Could this issue be because of the MAF, with an oil filter contamination? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get the codes pulled at autozone by OBD2 and we can go from there, other wise it can be anything also try disconnecting the battery to see if you can reset the check engine light, few times already had a light come one and reseting it would make it go away for good, its electronics and things act up from time to time

If you over oil a filter you can contaminate the MAF.

Stock filters belong in these cars, which don't use oil, of course.

As above, there are posts on forums about people who removed their KN filters because the oil was getting on the MAF wire

The filter came pre oiled, plus I let it sit for a few hours inside the house before install. I'll try the battery reset and let ya know what happens

Unhooked the battery. Let it rest. Problem solved.
