Like the title says, today while poking around under the hood I noticed white smoke coming from my dipstick. Not a lot I guess but enough to be noticeable. My car is at 92k miles, should I just replace or clean the PVC system like others recommend?
Also, how big of a problem is this?

A little smoke, not a biggie.
If it is puffing like a locomotive, you are better off leaving the stick out a bit and driving slowly and keeping revs down - high crankcase pressure will blow cam and crank seals and give you a big 1500 USD repair bill.

Have you done the glove test on the oil cap? Like said earlier, a little smoke could be OK. Any leaking around the cam seals? Has oil been changed at regular intervals? My car is at 172,000 with no PCV change yet and nothing is leaking. But it is said to have had the oil changed at every 3,000 miles.
As to the difficulty of doing the job. First time, on my '98, was a PITA and I did not do it perfect, which caused a few things to leak. Second time was much easier and I also cleaned the PTC near the turbo. That thing is fun to work with and it was pretty nasty.
Good write ups on here, just read them a few times before you start and it should work out good. The 12mm swivel head wrench is the best investment for this job.

Smoke is OK even with clean PCV. (Assuming the glove test confirms the PCV has negative pressure).
Think about it, you unplug the dipstick, the system is "compromised" and is relieving pressure through that orifice. Kindof like creating a vacuum leak.
I have been working on the B230 engine recently, and boy do I miss the vacuum system on the white blocks.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the white glove test and determining the pressure? No cam seal leaks. The previous owner, the first one, took good care of the car in getting it serviced. Thank you.
Latex/rubber glove test. Remove oil fill cap, place a latex/rubber glove over oil fill opening as if the oil fill opening is a hand with no fingers, start car, observe latex/rubber glove. If glove inflates PCV system is kaput, if glove tries to suck down in to oil fill opening PCV system is bueno.
I recently performed this test on my 1996 850, the glove blew off the oil fill opening, the dip stick looked like choo-choo train. The PCV hoses on the 850 are like rocks and will be replaced, if the head checks out - currently in the middle of head gasket replacement (blown).
