...Also, the money pit is living up to its name

I installed the PCV system, new top motor mount and the new XeMODeX ETS. Car ran great for about 25 miles, then on came the ETS light, P1238 code and limp home mode.

I am seriously bummed out right now

Might have bashed around the MAP sensor on the EtM? Pull it off and inspect for damage. Careful, it's delicate. I had to replace mine and I think 1238 was the code

Ignore my advice above...compared to me you are a PCV veteran.

I read here that P1238 is TCV (turbo control valve) When the car runs, it boost quite vigorously. I can disconnect the TCV connector, and nothing happens?

I also read here in the section which has all the DTC codes from a British website,

P1238 Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit Malfunction

I'm lost and frustrated right now

The MAP sensor and air temp sensor(?) are both mounted to the air intake pipe that attached to the ETM and intercooler exit

I see P1238 as Turbo control system Flow too High Fault

I wouldn't throw parts at it yet.

What I found today was when the idle starts wandering between about 500 and 1500 RPM, when I disconnect the MAF sensor is steadies and the car becomes driveable.

The diagnostic flow chart at the xemodex website points to a faulty MAF,

Gary,

Thanks for that link. I had missed it while doing my research here. I've rolled the dice and threw more $$$ into the money pit and ordered a new MAF sensor. Got the Bosch from FCP

GOOD NEWS!

I changed the oil the other day and removed the plastic cowl under the radiator, as I thought I would need to to drain the oil cooler (but a '00 S70 T5M doesn't have the cooler in the radiator) and I found the hose clamp that hold the lower turbo elbow to the intercooler rotted and the hose blew off the intercooler.

Put on a fresh clamp and the car is running perfect!

Now I can continue with some "stage zero" maintenance issues. T-belt & pulleys, water pump, coolant...

Work continues. Yesterday I replaced the timing belt, idler and tensioner along with a Aisin water pump. Flushed the coolant as well. Tricky to line up all the marks, as you can't get a good look at the crank pulley or exhaust cam marks. Way to go Volvo!

I have also replaced the M56H tranny fluid with Volvo $$$ oil, painted and swapped my OMP strut brace into the S70, did a killer antenna repair, put 2 silicone turbo hoses & clamps from the 850 on, replaced the A/C accumulator, cabin and air filters, coolant tank, upper engine mount, swapped lower torque mount from the 850 and added E-code headlight lenses. Did a lot of detail work in the interior as well, like getting all the lights to work and cleaning the gooey window switches

Next is fixing that pesky PO455 code, swapping the Koni's and IPD sway bars over from the 850. Then a 4-wheel alignment and A/C recharge

Looking good Russ. Loose induction hoses are amazing...you think the entire engine is toast from how badly it runs

Closing loop on this. When you disconnect the MAF with an induction leak, things get better. The engine runs on the default Rpm map, so the fuel air ratio isn't messed up ...for a given rom the engine sucks in a certain amount of air ( through hose and leaks) and the ECU doles out fuel pretty close to correct.

With the MAF, the ECU doles out fuel for the air reported by the MAF, it doesn't know about the leak air, and the fuel air mixture is way too lean ( in general) and you get poor running
