2001 Volvo V70 Drivers Door Module

My 2001 Volvo V70 was vandalized- center console ripped out & air bag module wiring cut, visors ripped out & rear view mirror ripped out. All electronics on the car work however, except those controlled by the DDM. The central locking system ( which includes the trunk hatch) side mirrors & window controls don't work. Individual window controls do work. I suspect the problem is the DDM and has nothing to do with the vandalism, but I don't to drop a few hundred dollars on a new/used one before I'm sure. How can I check to make sure ut is the DDM?

Was the fault there before the vandalism? If not you can bet that the cutting of SRS wires has caused a fault in that circuit and probably through a short circuit in the CEM.

In this case I would definitely invest in Vida/Dice system to read the car's faults.

This is the worst case scenario and of course it could be just a strange coincidence. The best way to try this cheaply is to get hold of a good used DDM and have "Doublebug" MVS user program it through the internet to the same software as the original. Part number is irrelevant in this case as any DDM from.a P2 can be reprogrammed. This is where your Vida Dice and internet connection come into play. He did it for me on wife's XC 2002 and still working fine after 14 months.

Not so exactly. For this 2001MY car can programmed modules from 2001-2004MY P2 cars.

As I wrote this thread I was thinking there is a cutoff year for earlier cars.

Mike, I hope I did this right as I'm new to the forum. All was in good working order before the car was vandalized. I've since learned that the central locking system and the other items on the DDM are controlled through the mirror- which was ripped out with the vandalism. I spoke with a garage yesterday that has been through this exact thing, thinking it was the DDM , but the mirror was the problem. Now, I just have to match the model #'s for a replacement. Vida Dice is sounding better all the time. Thanks.

I was visualising the central rear view mirror actually. Is that intact?

No, Mike, the central mirror was ripped out by vandals. Wires cut.

If you still have the central mirror it is key to saving lots of money on repairs. It actually contains the remote receiver code. Without the original board fitted to the mirror you'll need to visit a dealer to reprogram the replacement mirror.

The key should still operate the locks through the driver's door or using the lock button on the DDM.

Dealer won't be able to reprogram used module. Only a new one. So if mirror is missing the way out is to buy a set mirror+fobs from the same MY car. Mirror from car of the same model year will fit without programming. If you won't find used set I can clear used module so dealer can reload original fobs to it.
