Help! I am reinstalling seatbelts in my newly restored 1964 544 and am not sure which of the belt ends attaches at the sill and which goes on the post. One end has a small spring and an adjuster and the other has nothing. I hope someone out there can help..............Thanks Bill

the piece with the spring goes down at the sill and the other will attach to to post. The spring allows for more free movement with the bolt passing through the floor mats/carpet etc.

Do you Have any parts left over from your restoration. Mine is finally done but you are never really done, as I am sure you know. I have several friends in Southern Ontario with 544's some fully restored and some in progress. It is always good to network and help each other out.
Are you a member of any of the Volvo car clubs CVC ( Canadian Volvo Club) or VCOA (Volvo Club of America)

Hi Steve, I bought my 544 in California and drove it back to London, Ont last November. Not much worked other than the power train which was great. Have worked steady on it since, she's a real beauty. As you say the job will never be done but I really enjoy it anyway. I have a couple of rear popout windows and one hubcap left. Have not joined any clubs yet but intend to do so very soon, any suggestions. Sorry I was a bit tardy responding, was away. I owned one new in 1959 and again in 1963, always wanted another.

There is a local chapter ( I am a member) in the London area. It is the Canadian Volvo Club, I go to a meet in Ilderton ( maybe not the correct spelling) every summer. I have the correct date and address at home, I can get it for you if you are interested. I am also a member of the VCOA (Volvo Club of America). Membership is about $35 a year and you get 6 issues of Rolling, a really nice reading magazine included. They are having their East Coast Meet at Carlisle Pa. this year the May long weekend. It co-insides with the Carlisle European car and kit car meet the same weekend. This year Volvo is the featured marquis so it should be a really good turnout. If either or both of thise appeal to you I can give you more info. I am planning on attending and am driving my 64 544 to it and I know several friends are taking their cars.

ps I didn't get a prompt that you had replied so I am tardy on responding

Steve, I found out a few days ago while looking at the Canadian Volvo Club site, that Bev Hughes lives about 3 miles north of me near Ilderton. My daughter owns a Flower shop there. I mailed the application this AM so should be a member in good standing very soon. Look forward to meeting you there this summer. My 544 is a 1964 as well, can't wait to see yours. Would be very interested in going to Carlisle although I am supposed to attend a meeting on Manitoulin Island that weekend, which I may cancel. I would be happy to get some information on the meet from you.

We are planning to leave on the Thursday morning as it is arouind a 10 hour drive. For specifics go to www.carsatcarlisle.com. (it is the Import and kit car weekend). Preregristration is $15 and that gets you and a friend in plus your car (your 544 )for the Sat and Sunday. The major part of the show is on Saturday and there is a covered bribge tour on the Sunday. Accomodation is limited so you should book ASAP (you can always cancel if your plans change) We are staying in Lancaster Pa which is about 1 hour away as my wife and some friends are going to check out the local outlet malls. They are not interested in the car show ( their loss)
There is a swap meet too so bring your list and some money.
The VCOA can be found at www.vcoa.org to become a member. email me at [email protected] and we can converse some more
Steve
