1999 S80 alot of electrial doesn 't work

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

1999 S80 alot of electrial doesn 't work

Post by PHPD2227 »

I purchased a 1999 S80 that had sit for two years with a dead battery. I was told everything worked when parked. Jumped started the car and radio, sun roof, A/C and blower fan did not operate. I also had 6 messages on the dash saying brake failure, power steering, failure trans failure, etc.... Should everything start working with a new battery installed?

I'm no S80 electrical expert - I'm having my own issues at the time, but whenever changing the battery you should cycle the lock/unlock buttons on the fob. A quick search will verify the veracity of this seeming bizarre (to me) procedure. (this one lists two common procedures and is pleasantly short and to the point http://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-s80- ... ment-5646/ )

All the lights may be another issue however. I think I would try the disconnect the battery method first. Jumping cars nowadays is not always a simple, or safe, procedure.
