1996 850 ECC (Electronic Climate Control) light flashing

Post by wackenhut »

The ECC is flashing lights on the REC and AC which I know from reading means that there are codes/faults.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the codes without taking out the ECC? Please let me know if you can.

Thank you.

Via obdII port, but you need to go to a dealer.

...or you can made yourself a flash code reader, because ECC up to V70 still produce flash codes.

Choice is yours.

I would be disappointed if they don't.They are called "stealership" worldwide for a reason.

My Autel 802 reader nicely reads Volvo ECC codes. Right now about 200 on ebay or amazon

I made a little homebrew code reader for the ECC unit. You need a few inexpensive components such as an LED, a switch, a resistor, and some wire. If you're into this type of DIY, it is fun and rewarding! I wrote up the a more complete description of the materials, circuit, use and interpretation of some of the ECC codes here:
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 43#p251189

Once I learned what the error code was, I fixed one of the components that had failed:

Good luck!
