1996 volvo 850 engine light

Post by Muhley »

Hey as the title says my check engine light seems to randomly come on but the weird part is no code shows up. I always have someone who can check it right away in the passenger seat and I know both the obd 2 port in the car and the reader work properly. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks!

I think I had this occur when I had a transmission code. Normal reader showed no code. I think what I ended up doing was using VOL-FCR (under transmission menu) which was able to read and clear the code. Not sure if you have access to VOL-FCR or if even that is your issue but it seems there are limitations to universal code readers.
