If it's a AW55 car you're probably in for a transmission soon... There's a reason they're ultra cheap.

Hopefully he got one that had it already rebuild

Yep. I had an '04 Nissan Maxima which I beleive had the AW55 and it was a rock with no issues ever. Obviously hoping for the same. The Volvo shifts SO smoothly and seemlessly, I can't forsee it breaking soon. Is there an easy way to tell if the transmission has had the valve body replaced? Carfax doesn't list it.waffleshill wrote:If it's a AW55 car you're probably in for a transmission soon... There's a reason they're ultra cheap.
What does an Indy shop charge for valve body rebuild on the AW55?
The "gold" one was not the gorgeous gold you're referring to. It was the champagne gold as seen on every mom's minivan and Camry. I would have bought Maya in a heartbeat for a premium!oragex wrote:...Gold - I believe it's called Maya - is surely .. apart, but now thinking I would have loved one.....

01-02 Volvo, shifts smoothly -> VB was addressedVolvo2112 wrote:The Volvo shifts SO smoothly and seemlessly, I can't forsee it breaking soon. Is there an easy way to tell if the transmission has had the valve body replaced? Carfax doesn't list it.
Depends on what exactly has to be done, plus labor rate. Mine was replaced for $1250, ~$700 was for a fully rebuilt VB (with Sonnax kit). If you go for refurbished solenoids alone, it will be cheaper.Volvo2112 wrote:What does an Indy shop charge for valve body rebuild on the AW55?
