Hello all,
My youngest recently ignored a failing waterpump and skipped timing and bent 12 of 20valves.
I replaced all the valves, reset valve lash and reset the intake vvt to the best of my ability using the tutorials on here. I ended up with the vvt fully clockwise and the pulley having some play before the ends of the grooves intake and exhaust.
Rolled engine over twice and marks seemed to line with cam grooves seeming to be aligned and parallel.
However twice this week as its has cooled about 30 degrees we are getting p0026 cnf and pnd.
I am assuming from what I see the vvt is still slightly off at the end of the range one way or another.
Does anyone have any idea which way I would be a tooth off? It runs fantastic. Way more responsive than before the failure.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
2005 volvo s 60 2.4 p0026 cnf and pnd
Removed them to get the cams out of the cover and replace seals and set valve lash.
I used the cam lock tool set. Turned the vvt full clockwise torque loosen sprockets put on cam belt and make sure when all marks alignment neither sprocket adjuster is at the end of the slots, marks align and rear slots parallel after 2 rotation.
It was fine until the Temps dropped about 20-30 degrees this week so it has to be really close.
Just not sure how to get it fine adjusted.
The car runs fantastic

If the car now has unexplained low end punch, that can be an indication that the cams have gotten advanced to far. Is it possible that you had both cams square on their marks but maybe the CRANK got moved a tooth?

Double checked and crank at mark on oil pump everything lined up. Retarded the intake cam in the pulley slot and cel came on faster. Advanced intake cam in pulley slots and now I have 2 over advanced bank 1 cam codes. Going to put the cam tool back on and go to neutral. However that being said the exh. Cam pulley has a groove in the pulley (line). The intake has 2 dots preceding a 0 going clockwise. The 2 dots look to be almost a groove ahead of the 0. I chose those(..) to be 1 tooth ahead before installing the belt. It is in between .. and 0 after rotation 2 turns.
I am confused if retarding throws the code faster and advancing gives a new code am I possibly looking at additional damage to the vvt for the intake or the vvt solenoid? I have ran the gamut of the adjuster grooves on the sprocket with varying results. Non of which is a non CEL situation.

What about a valid copy of Vadis and the correct cable? Is this an option and how would I go about getting it? I tried the torrent route and my laptop doesn't have a DVD player and also seems to have gotten a virus so I rolled it back and deleted the torrent info.
I'm not against buying the proper tools, within reason.
