OBD 2?

A few years ago, I bought a scan tool that was advertised to work with any OBD II system, but when I plug it up to my '00 S80 T6, it doesn't seem to recognize the system.

Do Volvo's require a different OBD II scanner than the rest of the industry?

Any help would be great.

You must have just gotten a bad tool... The only codes regular scanners can't read are the AC and the Airbags....everything else is usually coded as generic, but there are cross references to Volvo's specific codes. I highly recommend Equus Innova scan tools (3100 is what we have)....works great on both of our Volvo's.

I've used the computer interface on two Chevy's, two GMCs and a Saturn, but as soon as I connect it to the Volvo, it doesn't seem to want to connect.

The only thing I can think of is the software I have loaded on my laptop. I guess it's time for an update?

Didn't realize it was software driven with a laptop...that makes all the difference in the world....you definitely need to get a software upgrade to be compliant with your car. Not sure what this involves....there are several systems out there....you might want to check on the www.volvospeed.com forum as others are doing exactly what you're wanting to do with success.
