2001 volvo v70 bad idle

I have the classic idle problem, when hot only it revs from 900-400rpm and is driving me crazy! my husband has done the following... Volvo spark plugs... brand new coils.... brand new oil trap... new Volvo maf.... new fuel filter... changed various pipes....oil flush and change and new oil filter.... Volvo 02 sensor... new injector rail and injectors....even A yellow sticker etm with A sacer fix and still when hot it does its idle thing, not sure what else to do now, thinking along the lines of piston rings or valves, never seen A fix on the boards here, has anybody actually sorted this problem out? this is costing way to much now

Spend another $100..150 on Chinese knock off of DiCE scanner and read the codes. The car will most likely tell you what it does not like.

To me floating RPM sounds like ETM. Yellow sticker should be trouble-free, why it has a Sacer sensor?

Also is it a natural aspiration engine or turbo? If turbo, it has one more intake pressure sensor, after the turbine.

How many miles/ time are on the ETM Kirsty? The yellow ETM is the same as a white ETM, unless you did the Sacer fix as you note. ETM failure is the only thing that will put you into limp mode, so I think you still have a problem there.

I already have the Vida thing and fixed all the problems it told me I had! Its just a normal not turbo I bought a normal yellow sticker etm it didn't cure problem... So bought a sacer fixed etm thought for sure fix it! But nope! Last wk my husband put some Lucas sealer in thick oil now its thrown.. Emission service required and engine service required! Calmed the erratic idle down not stopped it but it does settle but not fully
