It's been awhile since the last post on my thread. I wanted to close the loop on this and share my lesson learned.

After I replaced both front half shafts from AutoZone, I suffered front wobble for over a year. After scratching my head for a long time, I picked up used genuine Volvo half shafts. Using those, the wobble is gone.

V70 seems to be sensitive to the manufacturing tolerance of half shaft. Just wanted to share this info with others.

I have had bad tires give the same sensation of warped rotors. Pulsation during braking. Geometry changes under braking. Then the choppy edge of the tire would hit the pavement.

Hey Tony I second your findings. After trying an aftermarket axle on my V70 I'm now convinced rebuilding the original CV joint is a much better way to go. I only did pass side and seen driver being more difficult, replacing boots and re-greasing passenger side was easy and save a few bucks over replacing full axle.

I actually found the pass side to be easier. It's longer and there is bearing bracket in the middle but it sled out of transmission without issue. You need to undo the tie rod, stabilizer bar end link and the brake caliper to allow you to rotate the knuckle on its lower mounting bolt(remove the top bolt and loosen the bottom bolt). With this you work the half shaft out. And agree with you to stay with Volvo half shafts.
