HOW TO DO A TUNE-UP

[Volvo S80]

Hi ROADRUNNER22,

Well when it comes to tune up it differs from the engine, transmission and drive train you have in your car, how much you want to spend on it, how much do you travel (long or short journeys) and do you plan to keep it for a long time.

The tune up that I do in my cars are:

1) Beginning tune up packet:
-Air filter,
-Spark plugs,
- Change Engine oil,
-Engine Oil filter,
-Etm Cleaning,
-Other fluids check/add level,
-Tire pressure check up.
- Check wiper blades,
- Lube door hinges,
-Check timing belt,
-Check brake pads,
-Check for any leaks.

2) Medium tune up packet:
- Air filter,
- Spark plugs,
-Change Engine oil,
- Engine Oil Filter,
- Etm Cleaning,
- Fuel Filter,
- Other fluids check/add level,
- Tire pressure check up,
- Check wiper blades,
- Lube door hinges,
- Check Bulbs,
-Check timing belt,
-Check break pads,
- Check for any leaks.

3) Advanced tune up packet:
- Air filter,
- Spark plugs,
-Change Engine oil,
- Engine Oil Filter,
- Etm Cleaning,
- Fuel Filter,
- Change transmission oil,
- Transmission filter,
- Change Brake fluid,
- Change Coolant,
- Drive train fluid,
- Replace timing belt,
- Brake Pads and Discs,
- Water pump,
- Serpentine belt,
-Rotate tires, pressure check and while doing this check suspension parts and replace if needed,
- Lube door hinges ,
- Check wiper blades,
- Check the bulbs,
- Check for any leaks.

Beginning tune up is if you plan to sell your car soon.
Advanced tune up packet is if you plan to take long journeys, if you just bought a car without service history that is in good condition or if you haven`t been investing on it for years.
