Windex should work fine for removing the film, but use lots and change paper frequently.

You are correct you have to remove the door on an 850. If you look at the end of the plastic support 'crescent' where it meets the glove box door, if you look carefully there is a small indent on one side. You have to push a small flat screw driver in that indent for each bracket to release it from the door. This can take some effort and you may have to carefully push the screwdriver end in and leaver directly away from the bracket.

It may take some effort but it will eventually pop out.

If I recall again on the 850, you have to remove the hoop at the top of the glove box opening to remove the liner. There are 2 small screws in there. Take note of the position of the bracket to make sure you return it to that position when re-fitting it.

Hopefully that is clear enough?

I had no idea I would have to disconnect the battery, holy crap!! I watched a video on heater core replacement and it's prob doable for me. The glove box liner I'm sure isn't hard, but I'm a visual person unfortunately when it comes to instructions of this nature. I'll take a look at this. I found a great visual set of instructions for a newer model unfortunately, and the box liner comes right out w/out removing the door.

Thanks for this information.

Like you I am a visual learner (dyslexic!), but I don't have a 850 to hand to take picture of. I have to go get our other Volvo back from a service and health check later on and will see if any of the mechanics can let me into their 850's to take some pictures to post. Otherwise I will improvise and use my 2000 and make it up for you!

I already replaced it. But I appreciate your help just the same.
