Proud new owner with a few questions...

Post by pmcquain »

Hello,

I just purchased an 2001 S60 non-turbo with 42k miles. This is my daily driver and I drive about 80 miles a day to and from work. The car is great, but I have a few questions:
1) Is it possible to reconfigure the remote/alarm to blip the horn when I lock it?
2) I have the foglight switch that lights up when I push it, but there are no fog lights installed. Would it be easy to add them? I've seen a few OEM sets on EBay.
3) What's with the switch on the panel below the climate control that seems to prevent the trunk lid from opening? I didn't see it in the owner's manual.
4) There were no service records with the car, so should I wait for the 45k service, or take it in now for a check up to establish a baseline? (I plan on doing my own regular maintenance)

Sorry for so many questions in one post, but this car has me as happy as a Japanese school girl in a Hello Kitty store! :)

Thanks!

Don't know about getting the horn to sound...dealer would know...it would take a computer download for it to if it's possible.

About the foglights....you really need OEM for the switch to work properly. Once you get everything in (easy install by the way) then you will need a software download for them to actually work.

Don't know about the mystery switch.

No service records...get all the basics checked out now....plugs, air filter and cabin filter along with brake fluid and coolant....also check your tranny fluid now and flush it if it's the least bit dark or smells.

Good luck with your new car!

No
Odd, should either be lights there or no switch. Are there cover plates or just two holes?
Not sure what you mean
Service it now, do a 30K if you have no records

On my '02 V70 the fog light switch activates a rear fog light (brake light on the driver's side)

Indeed, the fog light switch is for the rear fog light. The button below the climate control enables/disables the valet lock.
