Oem volvo spark plugs would be the best solution.Cheap copper ones are ok too,but gap is critical and MUST be in spec.volvofornia wrote:Cool, I'll check that this weekend!
Whatever you do,just don't even think about multi prong spark plugs on a turbo engine.Single prong ones are the only one which works.

All right, I got my spark plugs out today (left to right 1-5). Compared to the pictures they seem ok. What are the pros thinking?
The middle one ist the dirties one of all. I also could see that some oil entered the channel which might be the reason for the plugs. I dont know about the manufacturer of the plugs. Its called AutoLite Platinum (AP3924) Are they any good or should I switch out for better ones?
Tmw I'll check the gap. Didn't had the tool handy today and need to get one. As far as I remember its .28 with a turbo?
Thanks!

Also checked my evap system today for the leak. I pipes looked all ok BUT the complete hose for the air vent was missing. When I checked for the air vent behind the plastic housing of the front wheel (driver side) I was shocked...there was no vent at all. I really wonder what they did to this car. No wonder it didn't passed smog.

What hose is missing?
There is one from the tank which goes to canister, from canister through el.vent valve to intake manifold and one port on top of canister which is for ventilation remains open with a non sealing cap onto it.
Could be that evap system on earlier cars is different.
Spark plugs looks ok but i would replace them anyway since they are not Oem Volvo and as part of regular maintenance.Just for a piece of mind. You will not go wrong since they will last for another 100k.
Also,i would check cap & rotor.Be carefull with bolts which holds the rotor. They can easilly be stripped.

They look a bit lean running to me but I'm used to air cooled VW which are always uglier than my water cooled cars. Clean and gap fir now and sort out your hoses...which will cause lean running....

Yes, the two hoses from the tank and to the manifold are in place. The one I'm talking about is the one for ventilation. As far as I know this must be connected to a valve for ventilation. In my case there is just nothing connected at all.misha wrote:What hose is missing?

Read my post again.
It goes from tank to canister and one from canister via el.valve to manifold. That one is for ventilation. It's controlled by ecu.
Picture you attached will not open.

Yes, I know it's for ventilation. But at the canister is nothing attached where it says Air. It's just an open port.
