I am replacing my radiator and I was wondering if there is an inexpensive way to replace the tranny cooler lines (inlet and outlet) to the radiator. Mine look in poor condition after 16 New England winters. Should I get some good quality used ones from a salvage yard or should I get some generic connectors and fabricate something? I can't find new replacement ones online, but haven't looked that hard. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the help up to now and thanks in advance.
For all those who have been reading my posts. My transmission is fine. The codes just came from the ABS module being replaced.

Go to FCPGroton to see the replacement lines. Also get the plastic lock tabs and "O" rings for the lines. With 5 of the 2000 V70Xc in the family I have yet to change out these lines. Eyes wide open when installing the lines and connectors into the radiator.

Don't waste money on new lines, rebuild them for $10-$20 or so.
I rebuilt my ATF cooler lines 3-4 years ago using generic trans cooler hose from local parts store. So far zero issues.
I wrote the DIY for 1998 S70, for your 2000 model year, it is similar in principle:
- Just use a dremel or angle grinder to remove the factory crimps.
- Re-use the barb fitting.
- Get new plastic clip and O-rings from dealer. Info on 2000+ plastic clips and O-rings are in the thread below for my 2005 XC90 2.5T:

Anyway, the DIY for 1998 S70 is below:

I replaced the transmission cooler lines with the radiator project. There was a slightest leak at the crimp connection. I used Volvo hoses, and seals and clips for connection. 3+ years 30,000+ miles strong.famfeld wrote:I am replacing my radiator and I was wondering if there is an inexpensive way to replace the tranny cooler lines (inlet and outlet) to the radiator. It's probably overkill, but I want to change the lines once and for all and finish the 'radiator project' with the most improvements to the car that I can do. Thanks for the vendor, I ordered the lines and they seem to have quality parts at reasonable prices. I'm pretty much done with Autozone.
