Code is telling me the MAF is bad or going bad. Car starts a little rough, but was able to go to Auto Zone and have code read. Does this MAF work like the one on my old '98 V70, when it went bad I was able to unplug it and still drive home? I am thinking at 124,000, it is on the way out and I should not try and clean it and get a few more miles out of it.
Thanks for any help.

You could be correct that you need a new MAF, but that code seems to indicate that there could be an air leak as well. It might be worth the time to check to see if you have a leak and/or bad seal somewhere in the MAF feed.

Thanks.
Went and picked up a reman at Auto Zone last night and installed, so the lady wasn't left stranded today. Will see how it does. I was wanting to know if it did cut off, if you could just unplug and it would still run like my '98 did?
Showed her how to do the unplug this morning, just in case the AZ failed.

Wife just called. She was doing some stop and go around town today and after about two hours, the car started acting up again. Going to pull the MAF and get the second one from AZ tonight and try it.

ive been chasing a p0101 too, but i have a p0701 to go with it. i replaced maf and pulled up my scanner to read the maf signal, it appears to be in range. I came across a thread suggesting dirty injectors so yeasterday i poured in some cleaner. Its wait and see time.
I noticed while reading maf signal that my short term fuel trim was erractic, to me that means, A, the car was getting inconsistant fuel, or B, the 02 sensor was acting up, but no o2 code so i starting believing it may be a misfiring injector.

That P0701 code is for "Transmission Control System Range/Performance"

So far mine has been solved with the second MAF from AutoZone. Went on a 500 mile trip last weekend and seemed to do good. It has a year warranty. Hope it last longer than that. The engine light did turn off on it's own. Guess that is on the newer models, not the '98 I had.
Best of luck with the P0701, not sure what that one is, other than what JudgeRat has said.

I believe he got that one dyslexic and it was really a P0170 - Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1) as he indicated in a post on a different thread.
Of course, if it was a:
P0107 - ECM‑1000 - Control module - Signal too high / signal too low. Intermittent fault
P0107 - ECM‑1000 - Control module - Signal too high / signal too low. Permanent fault
P0107 - Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input
, that would be a completely different can of worms.
This points out why it is so very important that we be precise in our posts.

Bringing up my old post as it has appeared again. A little over a year and a half latter. Noticed engine lite on and another read shows P0101. Should I ASSUME ( we all know what that means) the MAF has gone bad again? Any better places than Auto Zone to try.
Thanks for any thoughts.
