Just Got a V70 Wagon and noticed a fuel smell inside the cabin just after filling up. Smell stays the same while driving... Well...at least when It was operable. Currently, Its in "bent valves, head rebuild mode" in my driveway, (Fun Times...Fun Times).
I am sure there are numerous things to check besides fuel filter and fuel rail Valve seals (both seem good). What are the other things to check?

Thanks
Nathan

I had the same problem with the fuel smell on my 2004 V70. It turned out to be the O ring seal around the fuel pump. Hope this helps.

start at the fuel inlet. There are hoses that are accessed throught the floor in the backseat. These hoses split and will allow the fuel odor into the cabin. I have the same issue and have not handled it as of yet. But will have a new house with a garage again northwest doesnt bode well for winter repairs without a garage.

Sounds like fun... Thanks!

Agree with the above, but be warned that you want to disconnect the battery before looking at this, as the rear seatbelts are often unplugged when getting at the fuel pump, and will trigger SRS (airbag) warnings, which are a pain.

It is likely the o-ring gasket on fuel pump, or the pump itself.

Sorry about the bent valves.

Ok. So I have located the gas leak coming from the driver side gas of the gas tank (access panel under driver side back seat). I am guessing there is a seal underneath the lock ring? I am unable to get it off so far... Assuming I get it off will there be an o ring (i cant find one online, just fuel pump o ring) or will I need to seal it another way? Or is there some other crazy problem?

...Cylinder head went to the machine shop today

Thanks
