I am very curious about the timing belt. It sounds like the engine isn't turning over.

Ah, my timing belt... I did the job about 3K ago. I cracked the lower timing belt cover a little. Car sounds great. No hesitation. No misfire codes. Idles perfectly at 900. Weird issue though, after about two hours of running, I get this weird "plastic rattle/spring/tinny" sound when going over bumps. (I cannot recreate this sound on a cold engine.) I opened up the timing belt cover the other day, and it was pointing to hot on a cold engine. So I readjusted it. (That was about 600 miles ago.) I have gotten the noise a little less, but it is still there.
I took some pictures of my timing belt because it's lack of precision--unlike the hydraulic tensioner--strikes fear into my heart! I also wanted to start another thread on this... But, as this is related, I'll just post this here.
Looking at the timing belt on a hot engine, I saw the little tab pitching forward like so. This seems normal to me. I also noticed where the plastic and a little piece of metal might come in contact. Would that make any noise? And this is the picture of the timing belt during this latest no-start fiasco. On a cold, unstarted, fuel-flooded engine! Haven't gotten over to turning the car over yet. Should I try to crack it while in first gear to see if the engine moves? Or should I just take the wheels off and crank it by hand?

From the first post:
Add one teaspoon of oil to each cylinder, replace the plugs, press the pedal to the floor and crank until it starts up. Then drive it!
The rattle sounds in the timing path you will want to investigate, but they are unrelated to the no-start. Same with the ECT, you will probably want to get a better one.
This is CLASSIC lawn mower syndrome behavior. The video confirms it - the engine has no compression because of LMS.theWIFES_S70 wrote: ... After about an hour. I tried to crank it again, it turned on for a second before shutting off. ...

erikv11, I am going to give it a go in a little bit. I hope you're right!erikv11 wrote:From the first post:This is CLASSIC lawn mower syndrome behavior. Finally got a chance to hook up my computer to the car... this is what I'm getting. (Can't pour oil into the cylinders because it's raining.
) I am going to research what each of these values mean. But if anyone could tell me if something stands out, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
I've got a lot of x's here!

That means nothing when engine is not running.
Those are live data parameters .

The Xs mean the monitors arent ready to give values - if you recently removed the battery or cleared codes thats normal. If the engine isnt running, not meaningful as misha pointed out.
You can actually often clear LMS by just pulling the plugs and cranking for 10-15 seconds with no oil, but oil helps.

She sputtered to life...
Lawnmower syndrome is real.
My plugs were full of gas. They probably should be changed but we're gonna ride them out until they develop a misfire. (Which I hope doesn't happen anytime soon!) But they were drenched in fuel.
Here's what I did:
- removed the plugs;
- cleaned fuel from plugs and from around plugs;
- poured a capful of oil down each cylinder;
- turned the engine over manually (to make sure the engine wasn't seized: it wasn't, timing was still there);
- cranked the engine keeping the gas pedal ALL the way down.
On the third try, she came to life. (Forgot to take my foot off it at really revved that cold engine hard!)
Here's a video of it. My poor starter has been so abused lately. I hope it doesn't go out anytime soon! I'll be changing the "fuely oil" on Sunday when it's fifty degrees!
Thank you all for the help. I couldn't have done this without all of you.
