I hope you can help me. This has been going on for a while, but today it got to me. Both of my front seat belts have problem retracting. If I don't help them out they hang extended on their respective seats. Do I have to replace both seat-belt assemblies or is there some other way of restoring them to their previous "glories." In your estimation, how much would it cost to have new assemblies installed?
Thank you in advance for any input.

SEAT BELT PROBLEM

you would have to remove the plastic panel on the pillar to inspect them. I find it odd that both of them are not performing at the same timeframe. Has this car been involved in a collision before? I would check to see if the SRS retractors are causing and issue.
Maybe its only a coincidence....but have it checked out.

Thanks for your response. To answer your question: No, the car has never been in an accident. I think that it is a coincidence that both belts seem to be quite weak in terms of their retraction abilities.

have you had your car since the beginning or purchased it used? was this just a recent problem or one you got when you got the car?
Sometimes you have to suspect the previous ownership.. or the dealer.

From the beginning the seat belts have been quite weak in terms of retraction, but they did work. However, in the last year they have gotten somewhat weaker to the point that I have to help them to roll back. My mechanic is telling me that next month when I bring my car for oil change, he will take a look at the seat belts. Meanwhile, I will have to live with this slight inconvenience: This is the only complaint that I have against this car.CarVolvo wrote:have you had your car since the beginning or purchased it used? was this just a recent problem or one you got when you got the car?
