Black Connection Removal, Did I Break It?

Post by mnorris23 »

So I took it upon myself to try and untangle the ETM cable from around the starter bracket and ended up trying to remove the black connection. I undid the screws and pried up lightly, the glue came loose and this is a crosspost I am just copy and pasting. Was hoping you guys could help me out. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I removed my white labeled ETM on my 2000 S70 GLT and found that the electrical connection was wrapped around a mount. To get it all the way out I decided to remove the black connection on the ETM. I unscrewed the two bolts and pried it up and the glue came loose and I am now stuck with this:

Question,
1.did I break it?
2.Is it salvageable?
3.How do you remove this connection correctly?
4.How can I fix it if its broken?
5.How do I test to see if it is functioning properly in the car?

I know lots of questions, any help would be appreciated, thanks guys

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Follow the wire (about 16") until you find the connector.
4. Yes (+$50.00)
5. Now its too late since the wire is broken, but we can test the ETM for you here.

I answered these questions in your duplicate post. I.also linked to.a thread with an example of a damaged one I repaired.

The connector you should have released is very close to the engine mount beneath the intake manifold. Pull on.the wire and you will be able to locate it.

Thanks guy, sorry for the cross post, I got a functioning ETM from the yard and am going to try and return this as a core. I appreciate the feedback.
