Making a bad decision, aka buying 2 more volvos

Post by mydamnvolvo »

Hey all!
I'm still same ol' Cynthia. But, I have decided to postpone buying a new car, because, I found two older Volvos that I really, really like. The first one, a 2000 V70 XC Turbo AWD, a car I have wanted forever. I was so upset when my niece totaled hers, because I was going to buy it off her. It has under 172k miles. Silver, and beautiful condition for 2500 in Plainfield NJ, an hour and a half from where I am. NEXT, I am travelling to Lodi, an hour away, for a BEAUTIFUL 2001 V70 XC , Red, my favorite color and had just over 154k miles for 3500. So, for 6k, I am getting two cars that I have always wanted ever since they were introduced. As for my current 01 V70 XC, I am sick and tired of my son driving a car without airbags, so he will be driving that and I'll park his camaro in my lot garage in PA (which had my 960, has my 300zx and 01 V70) SO, I will have four volvo's, my husband will take my 960 and scrap his heap of minivan. We will finally be a Volvo family. I can't wait!

November 1997 - Currently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given drivers a choice to keep their airbags active or not. Individuals must weigh the options carefully and then decide.

Because air bags deploy very rapidly, serious or sometimes fatal injuries can occur if the occupant is too close to - or is in direct contact with - the air bag when it first begins to deploy.

Using three-point seat belts is more than enough in most all accidents...

June 26, 1992 - In making the study public yesterday, the Department of Transportation cautioned that air bags worked this well only when occupants were also wearing a properly buckled seat belt over both lap and shoulder; other studies have found that without a belt, air bags are of slight benefit.

2002 Aug - Seat belts are more effective than airbags in reducing thoracic aortic injury in frontal motor vehicle crashes

I know living on East coast that rust takes out many older vehicles, but on newer vehicles, try to determine if automatic transmission is in working order, along with a fit engine.

I get what you are saying, but, this is the child that scraped a new VW CC and caused my insurance to go up $6000 because of this "classic" garbage. I would really rather my son (19) to take a car to my home in PA and really anywhere he likes. Currently, even if he could stand the vibration in his camaro for 2 hours, it would take him two fill ups to make it there. He can have it back when he proves himself to me :D
