I need some help...Please!
I've been dealing with this since the first of the year with no resolutions.
The check light and flashing arrow came on, the car goes into limp mode, and code P0705 was retreived. While working out of town, I had an Import Shop look at the car. They replaced the Gear Sensor switch. The check light and flashing arrow came back on the way home.
Had another (local) shop check the codes and they pulled a P0470 at 332, so they replaced the lock up (or out?) solenoid, serviced the transmission, and reset the computer.
The light comes back on again with a code of P0705 and they suggest I take it to the shop that installed the Gear sensor switch. I was able to do that, but after they checked things, told me I needed to take the car to the dealer....I live 100 miles from the nearest dealer, but I do it anyway because I'm running out of people to service my car.
At the dealer, they checked/test drove the car and told me everything looks really good. They suggested someone failed to erase the previous codes. The codes they got were "EFI666 (not certain what that stands for) at 332, 311 and 313. They erased those codes and warned me if the light comes back on I have serious trouble.
the lights came back on....ugh!
Can someone give me an idea of what might be going on? THANK YOU!!!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
332 is an open circuit on the lock up solenoid. It may be something as simple as a bad contact on the terminals.
311 is the transmission speed sensor signal missing.
313 is the gear position sensor signal incorrect.
All 3 codes could have been set by bad connections. Unfortunately to test for bad connections you need to know where to connect test meters and how to use them.
With an auto transmission I always leave repairs to a specialist, not even the dealer has the specialised knowledge for repairs. Nowadays if they can't bolt a new bit on they are not interested.
Do you have an auto trans specialist in your area?
Bill.

Thank you Bill for replying and the welcome!!!
Finally, I'm getting some answers. I'm amazed at how difficult this has been and (gulp) expensive.
It looks like I need to head to the transmission folks now, that is if I don't get locked away....people think I'm crazy for not giving up on this car. I'm starting to think the same thing....;-/
Gosh, this has worn me out - can't wait for the car to be fixed and behind me.
Thanks again!

Hi Bill!
I just had to let you know you were right on with your advice.
I took the car to a local transmission shop where they discovered
one of the connections inside the fuse box under the hood disconnected.
After all this time and money...(shaking my head)
I'm a girl who knows the basics about looking under the hood, but I'm certain to have learned something through out this ordeal.
Thanks again for your help!!!
