Hi!
Since I´m redoing my PCV after 5000 miles because the glove still inflates I am trying to do everything right this time (including the heater hose conversion for better flow). Before putting everything together:
I should be able to blow through the oil return port of the oil trap and hear it bubble. That works.
Should I also be able to hear it bubble when blowing through the upper port (the one where the oil fumes get into the oil trap?
Because I can blow in there but nothing bubbles. It doesn´t really feel blocked, but I don´t have a very free feeling when blowing in there.
Thanks,
Clemens

Upper port goes into open passages - should be clear yes but no bubbles. Sounds good. Lower port goes into the oil sump - bubbles down there.
Another reason people still get the full glove is if the hoses on top of the oil trap are backwards, be careful about that.
Be sure the 5/8 hose doesn't kink, that is a real bummer it has started to happen to some people, as the hoses are aging now since this has become so popular. A heavy duty hose that isn't stressed will hold its shape, or get one with a 90 degree bend in it already, something like this

uh, a kinked hose, how nice. I had such a hard time finding a 5/8 (in my metric case 15 mm) hose that i had to settle for 12 mm. It works, but takes some elbow grease and WD40 to get on. Hope it works this time.

This may come as advice you don't want to hear you but I would be very careful about smaller diameter, generic heater hose, as it may kink. If it is fuel line or has nice thick walls, that is better. For sure be careful about the how you route it.
A good alternative for turbo cars is Gates 28471 or equivalent, $10-15 here in the US, I will post up a pic later. Gates 28469 for NA, that's what I used in the pic up there https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 1&start=40.

You will have to cut a few cm off each end for the right fit, but Gates 28471 is a good alternative. Good quality, inexpensive, already has a 90 degree bend. Only downside is, it is not fuel hose which will withstand longer. But most people use standard rubber hoses and they seem to be lasting a while, time will tell.

Thanks. I'll order that gates part next time. Actually i got fuel line which is really thick. If it fails I'll have to do it again. Third time's the charms or sthg.
One more thing: it looks like i now have avacuum leak at the ptc valve in front of the turbo. I guess i must have worked it loose by trying to wiggle that 12mm hose on there. Is this actually a problem? Probably, because i'm leaning out the mixture.
Is that seal available separately or can I try to seal that area with liquid seal out of the tube or silicone?

If you used some kind of fuel line that's great, you may be just fine.
Yeah, a vac leak there means unmetered air getting in, that is post-MAF. I recently learned that the grommet for the base of the PTC is available separately from Volvo as part number 3507985, they are cheap (only $3 US) so it is a good idea to replace them. I need to get a couple.

Ah yes. I did this last year... It was very hard to find a hose in the right size that is oil resistant and can take some heat. (Sadly we don't really have stores here carrying useful generic car parts. Mostly just crap like plastic spoilers or chromed pedals...
Seems to be a general difference, I'm always amazed when I see some americans on youtube go into any roadside store and come out with the correct part a few minutes later
)
I was able to get the hose through someone at febi.at who ordered it for me, if it helps. Would also replace the throttlebody gasket, mine were leaking.

Yeah. So true about us car parts stores and the crappy austrian knock offs. Alway disappointing...
This time I did everything right, i hope. Cleaned throttle body, put a new gasket on, cleaned the iac, put new orings on the fuel injectoes and upgraded to larger hoses towards the ptc.
I guess for now i will give sealing up the ptc with liquid rubber oit of the tube a shot unless someone chimes in on this before i go to the garage. Ill order the gasket from volvo (thanks for the part number) but i want to get it going by tomorrow. If anyone has any doubts about the liquid seal let me knoe soon.
Thanks
