Keep looking, you might learn something you don't know.If you were that stubborn to learn things, you would be a Volvo guru.

Teddy1975 wrote:Maybe there is some language barrier here... Misha: Fully equipped is not standard. Because your car is fully equipped it came with the immobilizer, probably have an alarm LED at the windshield and so on.

The standard 850, or call it the basic 850, was delivered without all of that, but you could pay to get it put on the car when you ordered it from the dealership.
Teddy1975....i'm just trying to say that the car came like that from the factory and wasn't manufactured "by order".I know that because it was bought from a familly friend back in 2000.It is equipped with guard alarm II which have an alarm led by the windshield.

We don't have a basic trim in EU for these cars. Also GLT doesn't mean light pressure turbo in EU market,it's trim level. You have SE,GLT,GLE(those are 10 valve cars).
I know that you can "order" the car to be manufactured by your wish, but this wasn't the case. Why i wouldn't say that it isn't IF it is?It's NOT!
It came from the factory with premium package without "ordering" to be like that.Could be because it's the last production year and being a transitional year from 850 to s,v70.
It's like U.S platinum model just with normally aspirated engine instead of being a turbo.

You stopped making sense a couple of pages back, Misha, and I don't think it's even possible to understand what you might mean anymore.

I'm going to bow out of this discussion, it isn't really going anywhere.

Misha, let us just agree to disagree on this :)

I'm sorry for my part in side stepping this thread from the original question.

Well that was a somewhat interesting read :) but I know 4.4 can be bypassed immobilizer wise, so what exactly did they come in? I understand they are drop in? Or would I have to find a turbo 4.4 unit?

I think BEJinFbk had a good point early on, in that it's code reading time. But (and maybe I misread you), are you using the old barrel and key, and just keeping the one that's mated to the immobilizer unit near the antenna? Could that be confusing it somehow?

In any case, codes are probably your next step. :)

I have the 855 barrel still in,
and have been sitting the R key in it while the R antenna is plugged in, with the R ecu plugged in
and have been using a screw driver to turn the ignition switch that is usually mounted on the barrel.

So the physical barrel itself is the original one, but the other components are from the R.

Ok so plot twist. I know of a 2000 V70 2.0T with a shot auto Trans. How hard would it be to put the 4 speed box into the V70, or even the 850 drive train into the V70?
