01 V70 XC CABIN FILTER

No it's not...not on a '01 and newer. It's under the glove box in the cabin (as per VADIS....and same location on our '04).
Unscrew the 2 torx screws for the sound proof panel under the glove box.
Pull the clips straight down.
Pull the soundproof panel backwards into the car.
Lift out the soundproof paneling.
Now you'll see the compartment for the cabin filter (white opaque plastic) with the lid facing down towards the floor. Unscrew the cover (again, torx scres) and pull the filter out of it down towards the carpet of the car and then out towards the back of the car.
Remember which slot the filter came out of and what it looks like....replace with the same filter. It it's a thicker filter in the thicker slot that's got a thick plastic frame around it, you'll need the carbon activated (more expensive) filter. If it's the thinner filter from the thinner slot then it's a fairly normal looking filter that doesn't cost as much.
Both filters can be bought from www.fcpgroton.com at a fairly substantial savings.
