2006 XC70 A/C air flow blocked

Post by tomk62 »

It seems that after running fine for 5-10 minutes, something changes in the dash and the air flow becomes blocked/restricted. It's still cold, but barely comes out of the vents. I can still hear the fan running on high and pushing hard, just somehow the air flow becomes restricted. After maybe another 15 minutes the air flow goes back to normal and blows full force out of the vents. If I switch off the A/C while it's doing this, it again will blow full force out of the vents, if I switch A/C on it again becomes diminished. The air is always cold so it doesn't seem to be a refrigerant level issue. I took it in to the dealer and the mechanic wasn't sure what was wrong, it didn't happen to him when he ran the car. He did a software upgrade but that didn't help. Has anyone seen this before?
