It shouldn't leak there unless the top cover was not sealed properly e.g. see https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/vie ... hp?t=60383.

Does the engine pass or fail the "glove test?" You're going to want to know that.

Often it looks like it is leaking there but in reality it is spillover from a leaky cap or something. If you are sure it is leaking there, cleaning it up and plugging it with RTC is a decent, cheap and easy fix.

Pulses of air are normal, but you need the glove to detect a build in pressure

Any latex glove from a parts store will be close enough, then you can just hold it tight around the bottom with your hand. It will either inflate or sit tight or collapse. Rev the engine with your other hand, too (rotate the throttle cable wheel, under that plastic cover), while you are holding the glove on. That should collapse the glove.

There is no actual valve in the PCV system here. Just the oil trap (a hollow box), then the various tubes and holes (ports).

But along those lines, there is the PTC nipple. The hole in the PTC is small, and it can get clogged up. If you didn't clean out the PTC I would definitely check that first, because although it is a hassle to get to, it is still much easier than re-doing the hole PCV setup. The PTC is the thing right in the middle of this pic, with the two hoses connected to it, and a barely-discernable, oily, electrical connector at 8 o-clock:

On some cars, there's smoke from the dipstick tube- don't know why...my son's car was like that but the glove drew down and the engine had suction...we didn't worry about it and it didn't leak any oil. I think you'll be fine unless you start seeing other issues. Cleaning the PTC was a very very good thing!! I have drilled out several of them! I do like the idea of the larger hose here- I think I'll try to adapt that to our V70 ('04) when it needs to be done.
